Crazy week, as I got hit with the double whammy of strep throat and a sinus infection. Also lost my voice for about four days. I’ll tell you this: Yelling at four kids when you can barely talk and it hurts to breathe is not a thing I recommend. Oh well. Got some antibiotics, and apart from a lingering (and violent) cough, I’m back in the land of the living. Here’s this week’s edition of Five Links Friday. Enjoy!
1. Let’s open this week with an older post by Rob Bignell with a look writing in the third-person: Use third–person limited for greater clarity.
2. Here are some tips one editing from Louise Jensen: The BIG editing lesson I learned writing The Surrogate
3. With October just around the corner, and everybody seemingly obsessed with creep clowns, here is a post by Andrew at Writer Access asking Are Clowns Really Funny?.
4. If you’re at the query phase, J.M. Robison has some good advice on How To Write A Query Letter That Stands Out In The Slush Pile. Also includes her own as an example.
5. While on the topic of queries, let’s close out this week with a great video by Meg LaTorre on How to Write a Query: Specific vs. Vague Conflict.
That’ll do it for this week. Hope you enjoy the weekend, and get a ton of writing done!
