Hey, we’re back yet again for Five Links Friday. I’ve got to start off with a quick apology for the site. We had some technical problems and were down for a few days, so the time I would have spent on a new post or two, including preparing the latest podcast, was spent with my hosting provider’s tech support. But nevertheless, they got it all sorted out and we’re back online.
So here we go…
1. With NaNoWriMo over half-way done, there are quite a few of us who aren’t doing it. But honestly, just because you don’t participate in that “contest” doesn’t mean you still can’t set out to write a novel some other month. Here is a post on How to Write Your Book in 30 Days with Kevin Tumlinson from Lorna Faith.
2. Joanna Penn at Creative Penn take a look at Accuracy Vs Authenticity in historical fiction. Historical fiction is one of the most difficult categories of fiction for me, so these tips very helpful.
3. On the topic of writing novels, here are 8 Ways Not to Start Your Novel by Laura DiSilverio at Career Authors. I’m sure we’re all guilty of breaking at least one of these rules at some point, so it’s a good idea to keep these cliches in mind.
4. Writing a villain? Here’s a post by T.S. Adrian with a look at The Perfect Villain : How to Write It?
5. Everybody love writing advice. That’s why you’re here, right? We’ll close out this week with George Saunders on the Best Writing Advice He’s Received. Give it a look and see if you agree.
That’s it for this week. I’m trying to get back on a more regular schedule over here, so check back this weekend for the next podcast and next week for some new content. Have a great weekend and get some writing done!
