And we’re back for the first Friday post of the New Year. I hope 2018 is treating you well. We just got back from a family trip and had a really nice time staying in a cabin at Mahoney State Park. But enough about me; here are five links to get you through the weekend!
1. Every year I tell myself to consider freelancing, so let’s start out this week with a post about that very topic by Susan Shain at The Write Life with 7 Expert Tips for Freelance Writers Who Want to Work From Anywhere. Oh, to work from anywhere and be location-independent. Isn’t that part of why we all want to write full time as well?
2. Now onto writing fiction, Susan Furlong has a post with some Tips for Writing Deep POV that is worth a look.
3. Like lists? Here is Jo-Ann Carson’s Top Ten Go-To Books on Writing. Pretty good choices there. My top pick is number four on the list, fwiw.
4. I’ve never thought about “use” as one of those words I may overuse. I’ll have to check on that. But in the meantime, here is a big list of Other Ways to Say “Use” from Kathy Steinemann.
5. Is writer’s block really a thing? Lawrence Wray has some solid advice on it in his post here.
That closes out this week. Check back tomorrow for the 2-year anniversary episode of The Write Good Books Podcast, and have a great & productive weekend!

Thanks, Jason. I’ll try not to use use in this comment. Oops. Failed already.
Holy Fudgesicles is an intriguing book title. That alone should create a few sales. I’ve added it to my wish list at Amazon.
Now off I go to investigate the links in this post …
